These items are considered maintenance items and when done at the time of installation helps to prevent issues down the road.

When a shop installs a used transmission, always make sure they put in a new filter, pan gasket and pump seal. Then write your current mileage down, that will put you back on a schedule for keeping the fluid changed and up to date.
