The Infiniti Q50 engine is a transplant from the earlier Infiniti EX35. The Q50 engine is a 3.7-liter V6 DOHC all aluminum Japanese built engine with power and economy in mind from the first prototype hit the test bench. Infiniti is the luxury brand or flagship as some would say for the Nissan automotive manufacture. It is the same parallel as Lexus being owned by Toyota. What is interesting is both Nissan and Toyota do not always share the same engines for their Infiniti and Lexus lineup. For example, the Nissan Pathfinder and the Infiniti QX80 use the same engine, however the Q37 and the Nissan Maxima do not use the same engine. This also applies to the Lexus LS 430 and the Toyota Avalon.
The Infiniti Q50 is a rebadged EX35, the purpose of this is to carry over or reflect the new naming system Infiniti has in place for the entire line of vehicles they produce. The Q50 is loaded with premium options even though it is produced and sold as an entry level vehicle. Some of the top standard features are premium leather seats, all-wheel drive, RearView Monitoring, six-speaker audio sound system and dual-zone automatic climate control for the cabin.
Some changes Infiniti brought to the Q50 in 2016 is a longer wheelbase and a larger interior cabin. This extra space is being used to benefit the rear seat legroom and also more knee room. They also did a complete redesign on the front end of the vehicle, added 19-inch wheels and made a moon roof standard.
