Chevy Optra is a compact car manufactured from 2002 till present. It has two generations of models. It was sold in different parts of the world and it uses several types of engines in different countries.

The first generation of the Optra was manufactured from 2002-2008. In the USA, the standard engine for this model is 2.0 L 4-cylinder E-TEC II engine. In Canada, the standard engine is 2.0 L inline-4 D-TEC engine. In Europe, five 4 cylinder gasoline engines are in use. They are 1.4 L E-TEC II, 1.6 L E-TEC II, 1.8 L E-TEC II, 2.0 L E-TEC II and 2.0 L DOHC engine. In addition, there is one diesel engine available. It is 2.0 L SOHC turbo diesel motor. The standard US 2.0 L E-TEC II engine is the family of General Motor’s Family II straight 4 piston engine. It was manufactured by General Motors Holden. It has 3.39 in bore and stroke. It produces is 119 horse power at 5400 rpm. Its torque is 126 lb-ft. The engine is also applied for Chevy Evanda, Suzuki Reno and Suzuki Forenza.

The second generation Optra or also called Chevy Cruze was manufactured from 2009 till present. It was also sold in different parts of the world as the first generations. Two gasoline and one diesel standard engines are applicable for this model. The gasoline engines are 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter Family 1 engines. The diesel engine is a 2.0-liter RA 420 SOHC engine. In 2010, a new 1.4-liter Family 0 gasoline engine was introduced in the USA.

The 1.6 L motor produces 111 horse power and 113 lb-ft of torque. It is also applied for Daewoo Gentra X. The 1.8L makes 139 horse power and 130 lb-ft of torque.  It is also used in Saturn Astra manufactured from 2008-2009. The new 1.4 L produces 138 horse power and 148 lb-ft of torque.  Its application is also in Opel Meriva manufactured from 2010 till present.
