The Cadillac XLR was made for just a few years and is related to the Chevy Corvette. Cadillac kept the drivetrain Cadillac only and did not share the Corvette technology but this car was all about performance unlike the Allante that was built a few years before the XLR hit the street.

The power plant used for the XLR was the Cadillac Northstar 4.6 liter V8. The engine was tuned for better performance and was a solid choice at the time for the car. As time moved on Cadillac got more aggressive and decided to supercharge the 4.6 Northstar engine and the car really came alive. This also drove the price point up on the car putting it out of reach for some buyers.
