The Cadillac Escalade is based on the Chevy Suburban or Tahoe platform. The Escalade has always used a Chevy V8 engine. The V8 was needed because of the size of the vehicle and the options that could be installed on the vehicle.
Cadillac started with the tried and true Chevy 350 engine. It has been a staple in Chevy trucks for more than 20 years. The 5.3 liter came along to replace the 350 engine and has done an awesome job. The 6.0 liter engine was only offered in Chevy 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Finally the 6.2 liter is a 4oo horsepower engine used in the HUmmer H2.
Here is the list of engines used in all Cadillac Escalades since day one.
