The Cadillac Brougham was a large car build for the family and all the luggage you could carry. The size vehicle needed a large power plant and cadillac used just that. The largest engine was thge Chevy 5.7 liter engine used in many other Chevy products including the truck line and passenger cars as well.

The first engine used was a 5.0 liter Oldsmobile engine. This engine was good and used by Oldsmobile for years. The next 5.0 liter was a Chevy built engine. Finally the 5.7 liter was introduced towards the end of production.
