Buick Roadmaster is the largest passenger vehicle Buick was making at that time and needed the most powerful engine GM used to help get it down the road. The last generation of the Roadmaster was 1991 – 1996 and used both Oldsmobile and Chevy engines.
The 5.0 liter V8 Oldsmobile motor was also known as the 307. It was a cast iron engine that was built well and offered solid performance. The other 5.0 liter V8 was built by Chevy. It was the little brother to the 350 ci Chevy engine that has been in use for more than 30 years. The 5.0 was built to save on gas and cost less to help lower the purchase price of the car.
